Start by not referring to this population as "young adult children." Our children are YOUNG ADULTS
Question: Does FERPA "trump" guardianship? Our daughter attends community college, and has intellectual disabilites. She has additional supports in place, but college admin is saying that due to FERPA, no one else - even guardians - can communicate with college representatives in order to assist her. She will only be successful with supports and we are wondering if this is possible to arrange somehow given FERPA.

Disability students are sometimes challenged by financial handicaps, and additional scholarship possibilities would help. Many are unaware that the scholarships even exist, so advertizing such in places young people go might be helpful. Additionally, many students have glitches in their educational skills.
